Oil on Canvas 2010

"The basis of my practice is to investigate the possibilities of painting as a medium, whilst attempting to find a delicate balance between abstraction and figuration. My enquiry into process painting stems from my overwhelming attraction to the sensation of oil paint; from the satisfaction in observing the progression of a line from start to finish, to the tactile sensation of applying generous amounts of paint. The marks produced by the brush, particularly its personal characteristics provide intrigue and an appealing element within the painting. Consequently, the work can often allude to a memory of a sensation, perhaps experienced in a previous piece. Instead of representing the process of painting as abstract, I wanted to create a fictional playful stage, where myself and the reader could engage in a game of interpretation." Lisa V Robinson 2010
